La sede principal de la ceremonia tuvo lugar en New York y estuvo marcada con una gran lista de protocolos para evitar la propagación del coronavirus.
Tras un sentido tributo a los a los fallecidos Chadwick Boseman, Pops Smoke y Naya Rivera, The Weekend deslumbro a todos con su terma Blinding lights. Con efectos de pantalla verde se reunieron algunas de las personalidades de la noche como: DaBaby, The Black Eyed Peas, Miley Cyrus, Doja Cat, Maluma, Lady Gaga, Maluma, Ariana Grande, entre otras.
